When recording images with a CCTV system for extended periods of time, two devices are most commonly used: a digital video recorder and a time-lapse VCR.
A digital video recorder uses a computer hard drive to capture images in a digital format, which allows them to be viewed in real time via the Internet or over LAN, WAN or telephone lines.
A time-lapse VCR uses a standard-sized videotape with a higher density of magnetic particles. However, this method of recording CCTV feedback has become less popular due to its inherited limitations compared to DVRs. |
